Conferences – Call for Law/Neuroscience Talk Proposals

    1. S.E.A.L.  XV: The Society for Evolutionary Analysis in Law (S.E.A.L.) will host its Fifteenth Scholarship Conference April 4-5, 2014 at the University of Illinois College of Law. Talk proposals are welcomed, and the field of law and neuroscience is specifically mentioned in the Society’s mission statement.  To submit a talk proposal click here (deadline is February 28, 2014).  To register click here. 

Conferences – Education and Outreach  

    1. The MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Law and Neuroscience recently sponsored the Colloquium for Federal Judges on Law, Neuroscience, and Criminal Justice held at Vanderbilt Law School on February 6 – 7, 2014.  The Colloquium was co-sponsored by the Federal Judicial Center, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Vanderbilt Law School, and the Gruter Institute for Law and Behavioral Research.  It focused on educating 21 federal judges (selected from 82 applications) about the intersection of law and neuroscience, as well as on providing a forum for discussion between judges, neuroscientists, and law professors.

    2. “Brainwashed?: What Neuroscience Can — and Can’t — Tell Us About Ourselves” On April 17, 2014, the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Law, Brain and Behavior will host Scott Lilienfeld, co-author of Brainwashed: The Seductive Appeal of Mindless Neuroscience , along with Joshua Greene and Joshua Buckholtz for an evening of discussion.  The event will be held from 7-9pm at the Joseph Martin Conference Center of Harvard Medical Center in the Longwood area of Boston.
